CARING FOR YOUR BABY’S GUMS & TEETH

You will see your baby’s gummy smile for almost 5 to 6 months and then there will be  small tooth popping from gums and over couple of years, your baby’s gummy smile will be replaced by two rows of baby teeth. Baby teeth are small but important. They act as placeholder for adult teeth.

What will happen if we do not take care of baby teeth?

  • Baby will have trouble in chewing, smiling & speaking clearly.

  • If affects on overall health of baby.

  • Less confident/ they may feel shy.

  • There will be chances of decaying adult teeth during mixed dentition period when child will have few baby teeth & few adult teeth in mouth at same time.

How to take care of Baby's Gums & Teeth?

Initial weeks baby gum care doesn’t involve tooth brush and toothpaste. Just take a soft moistened cloth or gauze and gently wipe baby’s gums at least twice a day. Especially wipe baby’s gum after feedings and before bedtime. This will wash off all bacteria and prevent them from clinging to gums. Baby teeth care starts from first single tooth in mouth.
